Multiple Comrades Marathon winner Bongumusa Mthembu says he wants to keep running to inspire young people from rural communities.
Mthembu won the marathon, which takes place between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
He says he hopes the public will come out in numbers and support athletes taking part in Sunday’s Comrades.
Mthembu says he is confident that six months of training have prepared him well for the challenge ahead.
He says, “Comrades is such an amazing race, it always brings the nervousness but at the same time we are always excited knowing that the work we have put in. I have to believe in myself, I have to believe in my team. I have to believe in all the training we have done so hopefully Sunday is going to turn out very well.”
