Jessica Pegula and Alexander Zverev stormed into the fourth round of the Italian Open on Sunday. Pegulla wasted no time as she beat Rebeka Masarova 6-0, 6-0 in exactly an hour – a double-bagel.
Masarova, the world number 160, had already caused a huge upset in the previous round, beating in-form 25th seed Leylah Fernandez.
But she was no match for Pegula, winning just 25 of the 83 points played, with only seven of these coming on the American’s serve.
The number 5 seed has now won three straight bagel sets in Rome, as she beat Zeynep Sonmez 6-4, 6-0 in her opening match.
It’s been a great turnaround for Pegula, who lost to Marta Kostyuk in the third round of the recent Madrid Open.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Alexander Zverev has reached the fourth round after a win against Alexander Blockx.
The world number three Zverev beat Blockx for the second time in a space of nine days in a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Last week, Zverev overcame the Belgian in straight sets in the semi-finals at the Madrid Masters, but was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the final.
