Cyclists, walkers, and runners have gathered at Sun City in the North West for the annual Kasi Ride.
The event is now in its fifth year, with the spotlight on gender-based violence, mental health, and overall wellness.
It is held in partnership with different stakeholders, including the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture in the North West.
North West MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Wessels Morweng says, “What is important with this program is that we are dealing with the preventative aspect of gender-based violence. We are appealing to a human mind; we are appealing to a human conscience so that men can be able to understand the devastating circumstances of their actions in our society.”
“Importantly also, to respond to mental health. Stats indicate to us that men are hard hit as far as suicide is concerned, so it is opportunities like this one where, through social cohesion, we sit together and we socialise, and we are able to understand, through sports, of course, the difficulties that men are faced with.”
