Get the Whole African Story 

Designed as a crit­i­cal engage­ment web­site to sup­ple­ment Africa Agen­da, Africa News Mat­ters aims to pub­lish the whole African sto­ry, not just a part, or some parts of it. The goal is to counter the per­va­sive mis­in­for­ma­tion and stereo­typ­ing of the African con­ti­nent. We do this by pub­lish­ing the truth about today’s African con­ti­nent. Africa News Mat­ters does not shield the truth about the con­ti­nent of 1.3 + bil­lion people. 

The African con­ti­nent con­sti­tutes some of the world’s most resilient and robust economies, demo­c­ra­t­ic gov­ern­ments, and edu­ca­tion­al sys­tems. How­ev­er, a seg­ment of the African pop­u­la­tion remains impov­er­ished, faces con­stant war­fare among some coun­tries and neigh­bors, and there is cor­rup­tion among gov­ern­ment offi­cials in cer­tain places. Who gets to tell the African sto­ry fair­ly and sin­cere­ly with­out prejudice? 

Nev­er­the­less, acknowl­edg­ing that there are two sides to the issue, the respon­si­bil­i­ty now is how to ade­quate­ly inform our com­mu­ni­ties and the world about the con­ti­nent, and its chal­lenges, while also cor­rect­ing the mis­in­for­ma­tion and dis­in­for­ma­tion — the lies, stereo­types, and black­mail in the media.
