In this week’s news, more than half of Kenyans believe cor­rup­tion is high, and the Unit­ed Nations lists Africa’s hap­pi­est countries.

Unit­ed Nations Rank The Hap­pi­est African Countries

The Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment Solu­tions Net­work has released the World Hap­pi­ness Report for Africa. The report, com­piled for the Unit­ed Nations, ranks the hap­pi­ness of coun­tries based on six fac­tors: econ­o­my, social sup­port, life expectan­cy, abil­i­ty to freely make choic­es, gen­eros­i­ty, and cor­rup­tion. The top coun­tries includ­ed Alge­ria, Namib­ia, and Tunisia. Those in the bot­tom includ­ed Liberia, Rwan­da, and Burundi.

Kenyans Believe Gov­ern­ment Cor­rup­tion Has Increased

A sur­vey con­duct­ed by Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Cor­rup­tion Com­mis­sion has shown that more than half of Kenya’s pop­u­la­tion believe, that gov­ern­ment cor­rup­tion has increased since 2013.

When Kenyan pres­i­dent, Uhu­ru Keny­at­ta came to pow­er in 2013, he promised to fight cor­rup­tion with­in his gov­ern­ment. Many Kenyans, how­ev­er, do not feel that he is doing enough to fight the problem.
