Sudan is the ‘epicentre of global suffering’: UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher

In an interview with FRANCE 24, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher described Sudan as the “epicentre of global suffering” after visiting survivors who fled El-Fasher, the capital of the North Darfur region that was recently seized by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. He said that those who fled told him “stories of mass executions, of sexual violence as a weapon of war, of torture.”
