Guinea-Bissau, a day after the military coup

A day after the military seized power in Guinea-Bissau, General N’Tal was sworn in as interim president during a brief ceremony surrounded by heavily armed soldiers. Once considered a close ally of ousted President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, N’Tal now heads what the army describes as a new command, following Embaló’s arrest and detention.
